Other Ideas:

Using video segments to help kids with inferring…..use short segments. The trick is always
referring it back to reading……using the facial expressions of Diego on Ice Age but reminding
them that they can’t see that in the text but need to make mind movies to help them visualize it.
You can also use United Streaming Magic School bus snip-its. Slowly move into text.

Just using pictures or posters and slowly moving from images and applying that information into
different text.
